Jacquard Acid Dye is a concentrated powder dye that can be used for wool, silk and other protein fibers. It is most effective when applied with heat. The standard dyeing process involves mixing the dye with distilled vinegar and hot water, then submerging the item in the dye solution for twenty minutes. Once cool, the item is rinsed multiple times to remove any excess dye. This dye is not applicable to cotton, rayon, or cellulose fibers. This dye is reported to dye wool very well and is perfect for dying hard items like spandex and silk mittens beautifully. The dyeing process is generally smooth and fuss-free. The resulting colors are vibrant and do not fade easily. It is recommended to test dye a scrap piece of fabric before proceeding with the actual dyeing. However, the dye may not turn as black as desired. There are also complaints about inConsistent quality control, where the dye container is unsealed and almost empty.
