• Question : What is the AquaClear 50 Activated Carbon Insert used for?
  Answer : It is used as a replacement filter media for the AquaClear 50 Power Filter.
• Question : Does it work in both fresh and saltwater aquariums?
  Answer : Yes, it improves water clarity in both fresh and saltwater aquariums.
• Question : Is it compatible with all types of fish tanks?
  Answer : Yes, it is perfect for large and small fish tanks.
• Question : In what order do you put the filter foam, carbon and biomax?
  Answer : Filter foam in the bottom then carbon filter.
• Question : I normally use the 30 gal size, is the 50 gal insert the same size?
  Answer : No, they are all different sizes to fit the 30/50 or 70 gallon appropriate filter.
• Question : How often would it need to be replaced in a cannister filter?
  Answer : About 3 months, depends on individual tank, number of fish, how much uneaten food, waste, etc. I run it under hot water when I clean the filter every 5 -6 weeks, seems to last longer.
• Question : Should there be small black flakes in my tank? Guessing this is the cause
  Answer : The instructions say to run cold water over the carbon bag until the water is clear before placing the bag into the filter. The black flakes mean that you did not wash the extra fine particles out of the activated carbon bag before using.
• Question : How do I replace mesh bag that I lost?
  Answer : My filter(s) all come with new mesh bags. I discard the filter and the bag each time. So I think the answer is get a new filter insert.
• Question : Is this phosphorus free??
  Answer : Not completely. From what I know it is part of the components of it.
• Question : Will this work for fluval edge 12 gallon? It uses the aqua clear 20 filter
  Answer : No.
• Question : I have 2 50 gallons filters for 2 slider turtles in a 50 gallon tank. How often should I change each of the charcoals?
  Answer : I have a 110, a 70 & a couple of 50's that have the charcoal changed once a month, but sometimes I stretch it to 6 or 8 week's without any problems.
• Question : Can I replace it with anything? What do I replace it with? Thanks
  Answer : I would only use what is recommended for your filter.
• Question : Can you use a 50 activated carbon insert in a 70 fish tank filter?
  Answer : No. Too small.
