  Answer : The protective film is very hard to get a hold of. Try scratching a corner of the panel with your fingernail (on either side where the panels are separated, not on the rounded end side) until it lifts off and starts to come loose. You can then then peel it all off as one piece covers both sides. But yes, it might take a little bit of doing to get it to lift off and you have to start from the open side end, not the rounded side.
• Question : Will this hold a metal restaurant sign without falling over?
  Answer : Not sure about a metal restaurant sign. These stands only hold up the acrylic frame because there is a rubber fitting in the slit of the wood base. If the rubber fitting is not in the slot within the wood base for the frame, the frame topples right over. Hope this makes sense!
• Question : I would like to use with an acrylic sign I already have that is 1/4" thick. Will acrylic that thick fit into this base? (Without the silicone strip)
  Answer : Yes. The base is 8 1/2 inches long with a 5/16" wide slot along the entire length. So yes, your 1/4" thick acrylic sign will fit in the slot.
• Question : Is this heavy enough to hold in windy situations, such as at an outdoor table at a farmers market?
  Answer : This is a heavy-duty sign stand and the most stable sign stand on the market. It can resist the breeze. If you want to resist the strong wind, you can buy non-marking double-sided tape to fix it on the desktop.
