- Question : Can I use compact fluorescent bulbs with this lamp?Answer : Yes, though note that the dimming function will not work with these bulbs. The dimmer switch must be turned on fully to use them

- Question : Can this be used with a ceramic bulb?Answer : All the various clamp lamps w/ a dimmer can be used with C.H.E.'s (ceramic heat emitters) as well as incandescents, but you cannot dim Mercury Vapor or compact fluorescent lights. If you need to use these dimmable lamps w/ the latter two light-types down the road, I tape the dimmer dial onto Max. and use a timer, power strip or surge suppressor with a toggle (rockerOn/Off) switch. Don't mean to abuse dead equines here, but if you suddenly find yourself a reptile parent there's much so to learn quickly, and confusion persists...

- Question : Will a holagen par38 bulb work with this?Answer : I don't know I don't know if halogen bulbs can be dimmed. And of course it would have to have a Edison base on it.

- Question : How do you turn it off? I turned the dimmer all the way down but it won't turn completely off.Answer : It should make a small click that shuts it off once you turn it all the way down.
- Question : Can this with a 100w heat emitter plugged in, fully replace heat pad?Answer : It says its rated for up to 75 watts and I think thats all Ive used in it. I have 3 fire belly toads and they've done very well with just this as their main source of heat and light for 4 years.
- Question : Will the dimming feature work if I use a 100w heat projector?Answer : I have a 150 watt nocturnal infrared heat lamp from zoo med. dimmer works fine. I turn it down somewhat at night to try to replicate day and nite time temps for my Ball Python. Dont know why it would not work with 100 watts.
