The TomTom Rider 550 is a capable GPS unit with features such as backup, wireless map downloads, custom route creation, weather resistance and a customizable home screen. The GPS is reported to be easy to operate, has great screen sensitivity and displays up-to-date information. The mounting system has been noted to have poor design that can be remedied with simple customization. Additionally, the documentation could use improvement, and the update process is said to be slow. It struggles with making stops in specific orders and has small characters that can be difficult to read. The screen's sun-resistance can also be problematic.
