Can he have the free software with a serial number etc?Answer : You can give the free software you get with the Atom (Ableton Live Lite and Studio One 4 - Artist) to somebody else. Just make sure you give them the key for the relevant software.

PreSonus ATOM MIDI Controllers Editorial Review
The PreSonus ATOM Production & Performance Midi Pad Controller is a well-built product with a small form factor and impressive pads. It is an ideal substitute for the Akai MPD line of pad controllers and can be used with various DAWs by mackie HUI protocol. Although some users have had issues with the pads and limited control over their DAW, most user errors can be resolved by reading the instruction manual, which is easily accessible. However, the learning curve may be frustrating for anyone who is not knowledgeable about DAWs. The ATOM only comes with the unit and a basic instructional manual. To get the Studio One Artist software, you must register with PreSonus after purchase. As a MIDI controller, the ATOM does not record or play audio samples, which may be a dealbreaker for some customers.
