  • Question : Does the uva part get hot enough for a turtle to bask?
    Answer : No, these aren't basking lights. You would use this with a heat pad or heated rock instead of a basking light.
  • Question : Can these bulbs work with the mini halogen dome lamp?
    Answer : Unfortunately, they will not. You would have to purchase the mini halogen bulbs. These bulbs are the fluorescent type.
  • Question : What is the difference between the Tropical and the Desert bulbs?
    Answer : The desert version gives off higher amounts of UVB than the tropical version. They have a chart on the Zilla website showing the various UVA/UVB requirements by reptile species that will help you pick the right bulb.
  • Question : Do these need to be replaced every six months?
    Answer : Yes, generally you should replace the bulbs every six months, but you can have it for up to a year if it still works.
  • Question : Does this give off heat?
    Answer : Not enough for basking. These are more for a healthy sleep/day cycle.
