The Bernzomatic WB5 Bronze Flux Coated Brazing/Welding Rod is a versatile tool that can be used on various metals such as steel, brass and cast-iron. The 1/8" x 12" rods are compatible with propane, butane, and mapp gas. However, some customers recommend using oxy/acetylene for better results. The rods come with flux coating but can be cleaned with 25% hydrochloric acid bath, or warm water and a stiff brush. Customers have used these rods for various jobs such as creating metal parts, bolt hole repairs on engine blocks, and repairing HVAC liquid lines. While some customers found it difficult to melt the rod even with a red hot metal, others found it easy to use with the right torch head and MAPP gas. Some suggest flattening the rod before feeding it for easier melting. However, the package contains only four pieces which some customers found insufficient for the price.
