PreserVision AREDS 2 Eye Vitamin & Mineral Supplement is a chewable supplement that contains lutein, Vitamin C, zeaxanthin, zinc, copper, and Vitamin E. The formulation is patented by Bausch & Lomb, so other companies claiming to have AREDS 2 are breaking the law if they do not have permission. The original formulation, AREDS, contains beta-carotene, which increases cancer risk, so AREDS 2 replaced it with Lutein and Zeaxanthin. The product is helpful for preventing the progression of intermediate to late stage Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). It will not restore already lost vision. Chewable packaging is preferable compared to the gel caps because they are more comfortable to ingest twice a day. The tablets taste great, with a good berry flavor. The product is pricey but worth it to keep the vision healthy.
