The Arts of the Sailor: Knotting, Splicing, and Ropework is a paperback guide that covers various handicrafts related to maintaining a boat, such as tying knots, stitching ropes, sewing ditty bags, and rigging sails. It is an excellent introduction for kids, especially those interested in practical skills, and a good reference book for traditional sailors. Although some customers found the book more anecdotal than informative and thought it lacked fancy work or rigging, others found it easy to follow and learn from.
