    Answer : The major difference between PU31-1A1C and PU31-AC-2 is the controller. PU31-1A1C is built with ASMedia ASM1142 while PU31-AC-2 (PCIe Gen3 x1) is built with the new ASM2142 which supports PCIe Gen3 x2.
  • Question : Will this support a usb c to hdmi adapter?
    Answer : No. PU31-2C-2 card does NOT support a USB to HDMI adapter. The card does not support DP Alt Mode.

    Answer : If you just need a type c connector then you can use an adapter. Just be sure you get one that supports power and data.

    Answer : No, currently our solution for USB 3.1 host controllers are PU31-1A1C and PUSB31P2A.
  • Question : Is this card supported in the new macos version named big sur?
    Answer : Yes. I have a Mac Pro 2010 running Big Sur via the OpenCore firmware. The card works fine and is recognized.
  • Question : Pci 2.0 based motherboard. linux mint 19.3 with a 5.3 kernel-nvme orico stick. i get only 110mb/sec when run in usb 3.0 port get 353mb/sec-whats up
    Answer : Try running with a very high quality cable as the cable makes a very big difference. When I first tested the board I got between 70 and 175 MB/second data transfer using crystal disk and connected to a Sandisk xTreme1TB drive. Using a high quality 18” cable the transfer rate went to between 175 and 750 MB/second copying the same folder. The difference in speed should only be a function of file size. Larger files will transfer faster but you must use a short high quality cable certified at 10Gb/second or higher.
