- Question : Can it be used for a 2” dwv stack? Need to prevent rodents.Answer : I used these on my three 2 inch vent stacks to keep leaves, etc from clogging. The screws were not long enough to tighten down cap. I simple went and bought longer screws (with same thread size- paying attention to coarse or fine threads) and used them to attach the caps. Been up year and a half with no problems to date.

- Question : I need to install on 2" vents- what exact hex bolt 2" long should I order to use-- what exact size?Answer : 1/4 inch hex bolts. For 2" pipe I would get 2 1/2" long bolt
- Question : How do these for both a 3" and 4" pipe?Answer : If its a copper 3 inch pipe you will have to buy longer screws so its tight. It will fit a 4 inch no problem

The Oatey Mushroom Vent Cap is a useful tool for preventing debris from entering vents and causing blockages. Made of plastic and sold in packs of 3, these caps can fit 3" or 4" vent stacks. While they may not come with screws long enough to tighten down caps, compatible screws with the same thread size are easily available to attach the caps. These vent caps do not have metal mesh or anything else to prevent rodents from entering. They are just a hollow half circle. However, they can be screwed on top of septic vent pipes on the roof, and there will still be enough air flow.
