Answer : No, excess paste can be wiped off easily with a circular motion.

Answer : Yes, it's perfect for adding an antiqued finish to any leathercraft project after hours of painstaking work.
Question : Do you need to deglazed already dyed leather before using this?
Answer : I would assume it would depend on the look your going for. if you want the antiquing to build in your tooling no, however if your looking for a distressed look I would think you would but I've never tried to deglaze leather before

Question : Can I use this product with something that has pro stain for an antique finish look or should I just use the antique finish that is already tinted?
Answer : This can be custom tinted with your pro stain before being applied for that antique finish. This will settle in the tooled areas for the affect.
Question : Is this water based or oil based?
Answer : Fiebing's antique leather stain is an acrylic water-based stain. Fiebing's Professional Dye is oil-based, as described on bottle. Fiebing's also produces water-based dyes like that sold as Eco-Flow by Tandy.
Question : Will this work on PU faux leather, also?
Answer : Do a test piece first to see if you get the results you're hoping for

Answer : Try it on a scrap piece of leather, preferably tooled when first trying this product and you will see there are various effects that can be had depending if using clear coat to prevent antiquing certain areas of tooled leather.
Question : Can this be used on metal?
Answer : I've used it on leather and I've used it on wood. I don't think metal is porous enough for you to use it on.
Question : Would this work on wood?
Answer : I use it on antique wood pieces.
Question : Should I apply this to a leather boot (stripped the protective paint with denatured alcohol) before or after I apply the Fiebing's leather dye?
Answer : This is only needed if you want highlight tooling, carving or decoration. If you are dying a standard boot, just use the dye and a sealer.
