The most important thing to remember when sharpening is to keep the blade at a constant angle relative to the stone -- don't change the tilt of the blade as you move or you'll just make a mess of it.

I BOUGHT THIS SET FOR MY CHILD AND ROOMMATES AT THEIR COLLEGE APARTMENT. I DID ASK THE OTHER DAY HOW ARE THE KNIVES, REPLIED THE KNIVES ARE GOOD. THEY WORK, CUT AND CLEAN WELL. CUTTING BOARD DOES THE JOB AND THE SHARPENER IS INCLUDED. IT DOES WORK. THEY ALL SEEM TO BE HAPPY WITH THE SET.
