Customer Questions & Answers

  • Question : Is this compatible with a two pole prime line 50 amp with GFCI?
Answer : If you mean 'Homeline', as in Square D, then yes, it will technically fit, but isn't UL approved for that installation
  • Question : What's the difference between a GFCI and a GFCB breaker?
Answer : GFCI stands for ground-fault circuit interrupter and GFCB stands for ground-fault circuit breaker. The GFCI is a fast-acting circuit breaker designed to shut off electric power in the event of a ground-fault within as little as 1/40 of a second.
  • Question : Will this fit a Westinghouse 100 amp panel?
    Answer : No
  • Question : What is the exact dimension of the circuit breaker itself?
Answer : Most of that 7' length (and the attached grounding wire) is hidden below the panel plate in your box. It takes up the space of a standard double-width breaker in your panel. It should have the same dimensions of the ground-fault breaker that you are replacing.
  • Question : Will this work in a Challenger Load Panel?
Answer : Work, maybe. Listed for use, no. You will need Cutler-Hammer BR series breakers to fit in Challenger panels.
  • Question : Will this replace my 50amp Eaton GFI breaker?
Answer : Without knowing the rest of the specs on your Eaton GFCI Breaker if you have a plug-in style breaker, 2 poles, 50 amps, 120 volts at 10,000 AIC than yes but without knowing your Eaton Part # it is hard to say for sure.
  • Question : Is this breaker approved for a Murray LC2040L 1200CU load center box?
    Answer : Yes
  • Question : The load neutral does not need to be connected for a 240V only connection, correct? Just the line side pig-tail?
Answer : Correct, if servicing a 240V load. If servicing separate 120V load with shared neutral then a load neutral would be connected.
  • Question : I have a centurion box with type QP breakers. I am installing a hot tub that requires 220V 50amp GFCI. Will a QF250 work?
Answer : If it doesn’t have the same cutouts you can always put it in its own box and then wire it correctly into your existing service. You also need one outside by the hot tub within 10 feet. And one more item is a branch circuit that is 110V and 15 feet away from the tub. This gets wired to the inside breaker and prevents the hot tub from an electric surge. The tub also has to be wired with 6 gauge wire. Four separate lines ran through PVC pipe. I installed my buddy’s, and it has to be done correctly.

SIEMENS QF250A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters Editorial Review

The Siemens QF250A Breaker is a 50 amp, 2 pole, 240 volt circuit interrupter suited for home installation requiring GFCI protection. A few customers have confirmed that they successfully replaced old 50 amp breakers with this product. This breaker can replace a Murray LC2040L 1200 CU load center box but is not listed for use in CHALLENGER panels. One customer recommended using it for an electric car charger installation and said installation was a breeze. The clamping system was also said to be superior to similar items. The breaker received positive reviews for its ease of installation, quality, and function of restoring hot tubs and induction cooktops. The size of the device was pointed out to be large, and some reviews revealed that it tripped on occasion. The product is expensive compared to other 50 amp breaker options available in the market, but due to the recent 2017 NEC code requiring GFCI protection for new plug installations, this breaker is an investment in the home's future.

Pros

  • Meets GFCI protection requirements for new plug installations
  • High-quality Construction and durability
  • Easy to install
  • Superior clamping system

Cons

  • Expensive compared to other 50 amp breakers
  • Large size
  • Has been reported to trip occasionally.
