The Makita XVJ03Z is a cordless jigsaw, which requires a BL1815N battery to function. The product is well-made, with variable speed control at the trigger and a quick release lever to mount the necessary blade for a job. The three cutting modes allowed on this jigsaw--quick aggressive cut and precision cut--provide versatility in use. While the runtime is decent for small projects, multiple batteries or a corded option may be necessary for larger ones. The anti-splinter insert is a bit of a letdown for some users, as it wears away quite easily. However, Makita is still known to provide great value for a good price with its tools.
