    Answer : Z-Wave Plus is the latest technology in home automation, which allows for faster operation, better RF coverage, and easier installation.
  • Question : Can it be used with an existing switch?
    Answer : Yes, the ZWN-RSM1 can be used to turn an existing switch into a Z-Wave switch.
  • Question : What is the range of the ZWN-RSM1 module?
    Answer : The module can extend the range of the Z-Wave signal up to 100ft.
  • Question : Does this device send the status of the manual switch inputs back to the z-wave controller? Alternatively does it send the status of the outputs?
    Answer : The relay will send the status of the manual switch it is connected to (either on or off) to the app or hub.
  • Question : Could I replace a switch with just this and no toggle switch?
    Answer : The ZWN-RSM1 Switch Module is a component of lighting control system, it can not be used separately but should turn an existing switch into a Z-Wave switch.
  • Question : Is it possible to open the case and connect to the com, no and nc contacts directly?
    Answer : There are no Com, No, NC contacts on the ZWN-RSM1 Z-Wave module.
  • Question : What type of mechanical switch do I pair this with? Toggle switches wouldn't be ideal, since they have up/down positions. Are there alternatives?
    Answer : Any on/off type switch will work. The zwave relay will toggle when the manual switch is changed. A momentary switch will not work because it triggers the zwave switch when pressed and then again when depressed thus not changing from its original state.
  • Question : Has anyone used this in conjunction with a manual timer switch? I'm sure it would work fine but was hoping for confirmation.
    Answer : I used it with a woods programmable timer and it's fine, it simply overrides the presets. If you go digital make sure it has non-volatile memory or it erases your programmed cycles.
  • Question : Can this work with a momentary switch?
    Answer : No, it doesn't work with a momentary switch.
  • Question : Can I run two fans with this? I have one switch that turns both on. I want to leave the switch on and just use this to turn them on and off independently
    Answer : Yes as long as the load does not exceed what it is rated for.
  • Question : If I have a box with a 3 gang switch, could 1 of these units control all 3 circuits separately?
    Answer : The RSM1 model only controls a single switch. The RSM2 model would control 2 switches independently. I do not know of a relay that is capable of controlling 3 switches. Based on the information at hand, you would likely need both an RSM1 and RSM2.
  • Question : I have an outdoor wall light that is always on and doesn't have a switch. Can I use this relay in between the power and the light w/ no switch?
    Answer : Yes, you can use this to control a light without a switch. A Z-Wave hub will also be required.

The ENERWAVE Z-Wave Plus Relay is a hidden smart switch wireless remote control for lights and ceiling fans. It is compatible with any on/off type switch, and it will toggle when the original switch is changed. It cannot be used separately and should be used to turn an existing switch into a Z-Wave switch. It has no Com, No, or NC contacts, and it does not work with a momentary switch. It works with two fans as long as the load does not exceed what it is rated for. The switch has received positive feedback for its small size, easy installation and setup, and compatibility with various smart home hubs.
