I use it for exactly the same purpose. Know that there is a learning curve involved. There seems to always be one or two guys experiencing disconnects from the software (so they can't adjust any faders)... or drop outs from the IEM system (nothing to do with the Mackie)...most FOH sound guys love the 'idea' in principle that we are taking control of our monitors. However, the system can also be used without the split snake, where the engineer uses an iPad and logs on to the DL system...this 'should' work fine...but I gotta say, the last time we tried this the engineer pressed 'something' and we lost front of house for 45 min. It wasn't until I loaded an older show that front of house came back....but then the engineer had lost everything he'd done up to that point. So, I'm a FAN of the split-snake. Just know that there is a learning curve...and many of us that are using this type of set-up feel the benefits outweigh the bummers. (I say this because 'some' band members that aren't as patient/open-to-change may want to kill you...the challenges and the learning curve can be very frustrating 'on the gig')...and I've found over the last many years, that these set-ups ALWAYS have some kind of glitch...ya just get used to it.

Will master fader 4.5 opperate the Dl32S or does it require the master fader 5 version?

It will still operate. I'm sure it will ask you to update to the newest version but you can skip it.

Can outputs be customized individually to receive only certain channels or levels from channels from channels

Yes. It can all be done in the Master Fader app. Download the app and give it a go.

Does it have Bluetooth?

No Bluetooth streaming. This unit is controlled wirelessly over Wifi.

The DL32S is made for the floor...not a rack. The rack version is DL32R...and it has a few more features.

What if the wireless network fails

It has an internal network that can be password protected. If you want to use an external diversity router, you can use a third-party router for a longer distance and more reliability.
