    Answer : No, this vent is designed for wall installation only. If you mount it in a soffit, the damper will drop and stay open, defeating its purpose. Look for specifically designed soffit-mounted dampers.

    Answer : No, the damper is held on by a flimsy spring and the sponge gasket may not hold up. We do not recommend using this vent for upside-down installation.

    Answer : Yes, this vent can be used on pellet stoves. However, make sure to check the diameter of your exhaust pipe and the diameter of this unit.

    Answer : No, gravity is necessary for the damper to close properly. The flap would not close if the hood is installed facing up.

This stainless steel exhaust vent is highly regarded and effective for its purpose. The design featuring a spring-loaded cover ensures bugs can't get in, but reviewers found that some windblown debris still found its way in despite the flimsy spring-loaded damper. The rubber seal that fits against the house was cited as a little difficult to fit initially but once stretched onto the back of the vent, it stayed on okay. The one major negative point about this product was that its seal between the vent body and the flapper did not create a good seal.
