Answer : LOCTITE 272 is one of our red, high-strength threadlockers. The temperature range of this product is for applications -65 to 450 degF.
Question : Is this kind removable when needed?
Answer : It's not really made for being undone. You can remove the bolt if you apply a lot of heat. There are other types of loctite that are made for removal of the bolt.
Question : Will this work to attach a wooden handle to a ceramic mug that might be microwaved?
Answer : No, Loctite is to seal metal fittings. You need a two-part epoxy and even then it will be dicey connecting to wood. Consider purchasing a new mug.
Question : Would this adhere a magnet to a welding blanket?
Answer : Loctite is a threadlocker, not an adhesive. It is typically applied to the threads of machine screws. I would suggest using an epoxy-type glue, an epoxy bonding compound, or a good-quality contact cement.
Question : If I apply this product on brake bracket-to-steering knuckle bolts, will I be able to loosen those bolts just with a huge breaker bar, without heat?
Answer : 272 usually requires high heat of 600 F to break the bond. This temporarily softens at this elevated temperature and thus, separates the parts. Otherwise, it will resolidify.
Question : What is the best type of LOCTITE to use for exhaust pipes on motorcycles that will run above 1,000 degrees F?
Answer : According to the LOCTITE type picture, 272 is the highest temperature. However, for temperatures of 1,000F, you may have to get another brand. It is recommended to torque the mufflers instead of using LOCTITE.
Question : Can I use this for a screw inside an oven door that keeps coming loose?
Answer : It is overkill, but it will work. Just don't plan on taking that screw out again. You will need super high heat to get that back out.
