- Question : Can this be used to power a Purge/Vent Solenoid to test if it is working?Answer : Sorry, we haven’t actually tested power a Purge/Vent Solenoid you mentioned. It can be measured if the voltage does not exceed 24Vdc.
- Question : Can the probe be used for spark testing? (between spark plug wire and probe/ground)?Answer : The probe is not for high voltage like from the coil/distributor to the spark plugs. It would likely be ruined if you tried to test the spark using the probe connected to ground. It's made for testing 12-24v. circuits. There are other inexpensive devices that can be put between the spark plug wire and the spark plug and that light up when the plug fires.
- Question : When I test true ground on car, I touch tip to ground it turns green I rocker forward it briefly turns off then flashes between red & green?Answer : Hi, your operation is normal situation. Connect the auxiliary ground lead's clip to the negative terminal of the component to be tested. Contact the probe to the positive terminal of the component, the test indicator should light GREEN indicating continuity through the component. While keeping an eye on the green test indicator, quickly press and release the rock switch's front part (' '). If the green test indicator changed instantly from GREEN to RED, you may proceed with further activation. If the green test indicator went off at that instant, the unit has been overloaded. This could happen for the following reasons: a. The contact of the tip is a direct ground or negative voltage. b. The component is short-circuited. c. The component is a high amperage component ( i.e. starter motor).
