  • Question : Will this operate below 40 psi feed?
    Answer : Most scuba regulators are designed to have a working pressure of 125-145 psi, including the Alpha 8. Although you may see air delivery on the surface, at 40 psi the results would be questionable at best to use a depth. I would believe that the compressor you are using was not designed for diving. There could be several reasons that diving with that compressor may not be the best idea.
  • Question : Does this come with flexmax hose?
    Answer : Yes, it is not imaged but it does come with the Max flex hose.
  • Question : How long is the hose? Is it braded?
    Answer : I bought the Oceanic Alpha 10. Not the Alpha 8. The 10 has a 36” braided Miflex hose. Very flexible and light weight.
  • Question : Will this work in the CDX5 first stage?
    Answer : Yes. This will work in any standard first stage. Unless you come across some very strange regulator, this will connect to any low-pressure port in any regulator.
  • Question : Can you change the hose to a MiFlex on the Alpha 8?
    Answer : Yes, the LP hose can be replaced with a mi-flex hose.
  • Question : Looking to find out if this unit will work just fine for a hookah setup any and all info would be greatly appreciated thanks
    Answer : Your best choice for the hookah setup is what the lobster divers in the Bahamas use the Sherwood octo sr2 octo
  • Question : What is the maximum liters/minute volume for this regulator?
    Answer : They do not have a liters/minute as that is from the first stage that will send the air downstream to the regulator. Hope this helps.

Oceanic Octopuses Editorial Review

The Oceanic Alpha Octopus is a reliable and affordable option for beginner divers or those in search of a reliable emergency backup. It comes with a flexible and lightweight Miflex hose, which is a nice added touch. The regulator has an Orthodontic mouthpiece that does not cause discomfort while using it, and the breathing pre-dive knob is easy to switch. While it may not have the same high working pressure as some other scuba regulators, it is still a great value for its performance and price.
