- Question : Will this scanner leave a border around the image? I want to use it for scanning sports cards and want to make sure all edges are visible.Answer : It depends on how noticeable the border is. A white border that matches the white background of the scanner lid may not be detected for the auto-cropping. In those cases, the user would have to manually set the cropping frame around the full image.

The Epson Perfection V600 is a good scanner for scanning old photos and slides. It comes with software that is basic but not overwhelming, and it allows users to choose from many options for resolution, color correction, etc. Scanning slides is easy with the plastic frame that comes with it, and scanning four color slides at 2400 dpi takes about 2.5 minutes. The scanner can hold two strips of negative film or four mounted slides for scanning. It can scan up to an 8.5 x 14 - legal document size, but not larger. The scanner software supports Mac OS X 10.6 through macOS 12, and it scans to jpg format. However, some users have noted that the software setup can be convoluted, and that the software is not particularly flexible. The resolution is also a bit limited compared to more expensive models, with a maximum resolution of 3200 dpi.
