Customer Questions & Answers

  • Question : What is the diameter of each implant?
Answer : Each implant is 3/8-inch diameter
  • Question : Can it be used on fruit trees?
Answer : No, it should not be used on fruit, nut, or syrup trees that will be consumed or sold
  • Question : What does Acecap implants control?
Answer : Acecap implants control Emerald Ash Borer and various insect pests such as Aphids, Bagworms, Bronze Birch Borer, etc.
  • Question : Will this harm critters that eat the acorns from a treated tree?
Answer : It might. Systemics that you put on flowers to kill 'bad' bugs transfer through the plant to kill 'good' insects.
  • Question : Would these work on plum and apple trees?
Answer : It would 'work' but then you would have insecticide in your fruit. I wouldn't want to eat that!
  • Question : Does this work on termites in a mesquite tree?
Answer : I would contact the manufacturer directly...The idea is that the poison is drawn up the tree with the water and kills the insects. The question would be is the poison legal to termites.
  • Question : What is the shelf life of this product?
Answer : Not sure. However, I do recall that each capsule was packaged well. I would be hesitant to use 6 months after receiving.
  • Question : Can tree be treated during cold months?
Answer : Yes, our trees were treated in September this past year. In the summer, when the sap is running, it takes a couple of weeks or so for the insecticide to disperse throughout the tree. This action will of course take longer if the tree is treated during the winter months. When spring comes the sap will distribute the chemical quickly.
  • Question : Would this harm woodpeckers? I know the main goal is to save the tree, but if a bird eats an insect from the tree will it harm it?
Answer : The spikes will not hurt woodpeckers. We actually feed the birds. We had a terrible outbreak of gypsy moth in our area. They stripped the oak trees. Early spring before they arrived my husband drilled holes in the trees and inserted the plastic spikes. Woodpeckers do not tap on the plastic ends. The insecticide goes deep in the tree. We had some damage from the caterpillars but our trees remained healthy. Some people put a folded piece of burlap around their tree to catch the caterpillars before they climbed the tree and would dispose of them in soapy water. Unprotected trees were stripped bare. Woodpeckers do not eat these caterpillars. Hope this answers your question.

MAKJUNS Repellents Editorial Review

The AceCap Insecticide Systemic Tree Implants provide an easy and effective way to protect your trees from pests. These 3/8-inch implants work by releasing insecticide into the tree's sap, which then disperses throughout the entire tree, killing insects and protecting the tree from damage. However, it's important to note that the insecticide can also harm beneficial insects and may end up in the fruit of treated trees. It's recommended to contact the manufacturer directly for specific information about the use of this product on different tree species and pests. Overall, this product has been successful in protecting trees from pests, but caution should be taken to prevent harm to beneficial insects and avoid consuming fruit treated with the insecticide.
