    Answer : If any gas leaks through the hole, it can dissolve the tape glue, and any continued pressure will force the gas out, filling the space when the tape begins to separate. Recommend using a self-sealing type rubber tape that stretches and seals on itself without using glue on the tape, as any tape is only a temporary measure until you can replace the broken line before the leaking gas creates a fire hazard.

Gorilla Duct Tape Editorial Review
