Answer : It is suitable for kids of all ages.
Question : How many players can play the game?
Answer : It is designed for 2-4 players.
Question : What is included in the game?
Answer : The game includes 4 game boards, 12 treasure cards, 2 game board holders, 2 team cards, 2 magnetic gnome movers, 4 corner-start cards, 1 sand timer and instructions.
Question : How many can play at one time?
Answer : There are two gnomes but four can play at a time. Two teams of two. There are two cards with different colored gems on them, and each of the object cards has gems in the corner. When your gem color comes up on an object card, you control the gnome. When your partner’s gem appears, it’s his or her turn.
Question : Would an almost 5-year old who loves to talk and create fantasy like this game over other Peaceable Kingdom games?
Answer : This game is great for talking and working together, so they could go on a 'mission' through the castle to find the objects. The players must talk to each other and work together, it is a great game. It has different levels of difficulty, and the cards rotate so the game is never the same twice in a row.
Question : Are there only 4 different mazes?
Answer : INCLUDES: 4 game boards, 12 Treasure Cards, 2 Team Cards, 4 Corner Start Cards, 2 game board holders, 2 magnetic gnome movers, 1 sand timer and instructions.
Question : Does this game require strategy?
Answer : This game does require individuals to use strategy and communication! Partners have to work together in order to get to each destination. It is not a game in which one person wins but instead is a game that each player helps the other player to reach various destinations. Once each player reaches their destinations the game is over.
Question : Does anyone know how long the timer runs?
Answer : 2 1/2 minutes I think.
Question : Will this be too easy for a 12 year old?
Answer : I can only give a 2nd hand account - my grandkids are + and - 12 years old and liked it
Question : What happens after the mazes are solved? Why would a child want to play again?
Answer : They would want to play again because they cannot see the maze so it's hard to learn. They rely on the other child to tell them where to go.
Question : Would this be too simple for an 11-year-old? I'm trying to find more cooperative games that he would enjoy.
Answer : No, it shouldn't be too simple. We got it for a 9-year-old and once she learned the rules, she loved it. The game boards go from easy to hard, and can be changed and turned to make the game a little different each time you play. Because the game requires cooperation both players must work together and communicate to finish. He can play with friends of different ages by choosing which level of board to use. I highly recommend this game. It is fantastic.
Question : Is it possible to buy replacement gnomes? It's such a fun game, but of course, my 5yo immediately lost the pieces...
Answer : We have several Peaceable Kingdom games (my family LOVES them) and I believe they offer free replacement of pieces. I would look in the box for more info.
