It isn't numbing, it's warming. So it's very effective for sore muscles, like soaking in a hot bath. But it would burn like crazy if you used it for piercing.

Does the smell of the balm come off of clothes when washed?

The smell comes off clothes when I wash them but I deeply rub the balm in - not a lot is left on top of the skin. You don’t need to use a heavy application. I’ve found a little goes a long way. Secondly, if I use a ‘stronger’ detergent like Tide - all odors are removed! Not sure if that would occur with my more eco-friendly products! Bottom line - I’ve never had my clothes retain the balm odor.

Why are yhe multiple quanyituss of this item me more expensive than buying just one? It's usually the other way around, the more you buy the more you save.

I am not sure about headache, but for bones or joint pain - 100%!!! My mom (61 years old) uses it several months and she is happy with this balm. For headache, I can recommend Vietnam Gold Star balm. I use (41 years old) for my headache and I can sure it works!!!!
