The Ktaxon 5 String Electric Bass Guitar is a great option for those looking for an affordable bass guitar that still delivers good sound quality. The guitar has a passive pickup and does not require batteries. The neck is shaped nicely and the intonation and action are playable right out of the box. The packaging is also great, with a full foam insert in the box. However, the fretboard needs conditioning and the fret ends will need dressing. The strings also feel quite cheap, and there is a big neck dive versus the light body. The overall output of the pickups seems low, but this could be improved with a better amp. The guitar's hardware feels relatively solid, and the sound should be more than enough to get scratch tracks and random noodling. Overall, this is a solid backup/spare instrument or one that could be used for a gig.
