Won't an oral-B battery toothbrush do the same with its vibrating brush?

Yes, it's about vibrating the pollen from the stamen to the stigma. An old oral b touched to the stem of the flower will simulate a pollinator's work. Also, you only have to tap the stem with your fingers to cause pollen to drop. You don't want to brush the pollen off the stamen directly, it will damage the flower and then it won't produce. Don't touch the bristles of an old toothbrush or a rubber brush to the flower itself, just a bit of vibration to the stems. Remember the brush is irrelevant. Coming from a biologist btw.

Do I need to catch the pollen loosened by the pollinator and manually sprinkle them on the other plants?

No, just catch the pollen in the pollinator and move on to another bloom. Works wonderfully. We had no cucumbers last year but this year all kinds of them with the pollinator.

Do you want to touch it to the flower itself or the stem at the base of the flower?

Pollen to pollen. The center of the flower is where I was instructed to touch it to. Unfortunately, the product came by itself with no instructions, but the concept is to act as if the gadget was a 'bee'.

Is this a pollinator without real bees?

Yes, it is battery operated which causes the tip to gently move. I go from flower to flower to cross-pollinate. I use it when growing tomatoes indoors. Hope this helps.

Why is this any more effective than a Q-tip?

I'm not sure if it is any more effective, however, I prefer this over a Q-tip because you won't lose pollen on it, as you would on a Q-tip. And, if you're specifically pollinating certain plants, you'd go through more Q-tips in order not to have hybrids.

Is it okay to move from strawberry to pepper plant flowers back and forth? Or will that affect my fruit?

There's no risk unless the plants are extremely similar like 2 different types of tomatoes, for example. Fruit pollen will never affect vegetables. It's the same theory as why a cat can't impregnate a pig or any non-similar animal.

Does this have pollen inside of it?

No, there is no pollen inside. You use this tool to spread the pollen from one bloom to another if you don't have bees or butterflies to do so. It worked very well for me!

It suddenly stopped working. Any way to troubleshoot or fix?

I got 3 different ones, they ALL broke within a week. JUNK! Cheaply made. Send it back while u can. I got an Electric toothbrush for like $23. NEVER had a problem. Use it on low. Works Great!

Are there replacement tips available to use for different varieties of the same plant?
