Can this drain quinoa?

Sorry, I have never prepared/drained quinoa. I can say that the drain holes are not very big, though yes, larger than a fine mesh screen type strainer. I really like the set, find them very sturdy.

Where are these made?

The colanders are not marked with a place of origin. My guess is likely China or other country given the price.

Can these be used to stream tamales on top of pot of water

I would imagine they could. I have used them to steam beans. They are a fantastic set, I love mine. They are the perfect sizes to use too. They drain extremely well also.

Can you steam food in these colanders?

Yes. Just be careful when removing them from the pot as the handles will be very hot.

Are the handles glued?

No. They are probably soldered on. They are very well made in my opinion. I’ve had them for a while now and they’re holding up great

Can I drain cooked basmati rice in this?

It should do that job just fine I drain and rinse both long grain and jasmine with no issues along with couscous .
