Now your iPhone will use these settings to communicate with the Veepeak unit while still having 3G/4G data available for other apps.

No, it taps some juice from the car battery. Remove it from the car when not in use.

However, it is not advisable to leave the device plugged in as it may tap some juice from the car battery.
