    Answer : Do not run any motor for more than 4,000 miles without changing the oil and the filter at the same time. Pray your motor don't blow up.

    Answer : No, it is not normal. It should have a plastic cover to protect the seal. I had a similar experience where the filter came loose and leaked oil. Since then, I have not used this type of filter.
