Can you cut the wire of a chain link fence with this?

I would not use the Rebar to cut chain link fence. You will likely break it or at least need to replace the cutters. It's a great multi tool, but if you want to cut chain link, even a cheap pair of fencing pliers would be vastly better for that task. I have however used the Rebar to cut lots of soft steel fencing wire, and also steel clothesline. It's a great little tool.

Are the pliers spring-loaded?

No, it's not spring loaded but it's a great tool.

What is the difference between this item and the 'Leatherman 831547 Rebar'?

I checked the package, I actually have the 831547 model, which comes with the regular nylon case with velcro. As far as I can tell, it's the same. The other models have a leather box sheath (831551), or the black oxide model with Molle sheath (831553) Those are the only 3 variations I can find.

Does it come with a sheath?

It comes with a black sheath, feels a bit like a canvas material--it can be slid onto your belt.

Is it made in the USA?

Leatherman tools have been made in Portland, OR, USA. However, the leather sheath is made in Mexico.

What size is the largest multi-tool?

The largest I know of is a Swiss Army multi-tool. It had something like 50 different tools all mounted between 2 handles or slabs.

What size loop does the sheath have? Can it fit on a two-inch Sam Brown duty belt?

The sheath is 2.5 inches. It should fit an average thick belt.

Does it come with additional replacement wire cutters?

Not that I have seen. I don’t know of any Leatherman tool that had any replacement parts except for tweezers and toothpick and sold the tools for several years while working in a knife store.

The Leatherman Rebar is a compact and sturdy tool loved by many customers. Although it is not spring-loaded, it works perfectly for everyday use.
