The Edelbrock 3701 Performer Intake Manifold is specifically engineered for small-block Chevrolet engines that range from 1955 to 1986. This manifold optimizes airflow for better fuel distribution, enhancing overall engine performance. Utilizing the Edelbrock 3701 Performer Intake Manifold offers multiple advantages, such as enhanced airflow and better fuel distribution, which lead to improved horsepower and torque. The manifold is designed to provide an excellent fit and is made from high-quality materials for durability. It also features a square bore design that accommodates various carburetors, offering versatility for custom builds and modifications. Whether you're rebuilding an engine or simply seeking better performance, this manifold can significantly elevate your driving experience.

Is the Edelbrock 3701 suitable for my setup?

To determine if the Edelbrock 3701 Performer Intake Manifold is suitable for your vehicle, check if you have a small-block Chevrolet engine produced between 1955 and 1986. Its design is tailored for this specific range, and it works best with carbureted applications. Additionally, it's beneficial if you're aiming for increased throttle response and enhanced low to mid-range torque. If you’re modifying your vehicle for street performance or higher efficiency, this manifold is a great addition to your setup.

How does the Edelbrock 3701 affect fuel efficiency?

The Edelbrock 3701 Performer Intake Manifold can positively influence fuel efficiency by improving the air-fuel mixture entering the engine. With optimized airflow, your engine can burn fuel more thoroughly, leading to more efficient combustion. This means that while you may experience performance gains, you might also achieve better fuel economy in everyday driving conditions. It's an ideal choice for those looking to enhance their car's performance without compromising on efficiency.

What installation tools do I need for the Edelbrock 3701?

Installing the Edelbrock 3701 Performer Intake Manifold requires some basic tools, including a ratchet set, torque wrench, and socket extensions. It's also helpful to have a gasket scraper, silicone sealant, and a torque specification chart handy. Ensure you're prepared to clean the mounting surfaces before installation to avoid leaks. While many choose to install it themselves, consulting a professional mechanic is advisable if you’re unfamiliar with engine modifications.

Can I use the Edelbrock 3701 with fuel injection?

The Edelbrock 3701 Performer Intake Manifold is specifically designed for carbureted applications and may not optimally support fuel injection systems. If you are on a fuel injection setup, consider looking for manifolds that are tailored for your specific fuel injection application to ensure compatibility and performance gains. If you’re leaning toward performance but currently use fuel injection, switching to a carbureted system might be a great avenue worth exploring.

What type of carburetor should I use with the Edelbrock 3701?

When using the Edelbrock 3701 Performer Intake Manifold, it's recommended to pair it with a carburetor that has a square bore design, with a size of 600 to 750 CFM for optimal performance. Popular options include various Edelbrock carburetors which are designed to work seamlessly with this manifold. The proper carburetor selection will enhance your engine’s performance and ensure an efficient air-fuel mixture, which ultimately translates to better throttle response and power.

What is the weight of the Edelbrock 3701 Performer Intake Manifold?

The Edelbrock 3701 Performer Intake Manifold typically weighs around 20-25 pounds, depending on the model specifics and design. This moderate weight means that while it’s sturdy and durable, it's also designed to be manageable for installation. Its lightweight nature relative to factory options helps enhance the overall performance by reducing the load on your engine. This characteristic is especially beneficial when it comes to racing applications or high-performance builds, where every pound saved counts.

How does the Edelbrock 3701 perform across different driving conditions?

The Edelbrock 3701 Performer Intake Manifold excels in various driving conditions, particularly for street and light performance applications. Its design promotes excellent drivability in the low to mid RPM range, allowing for smooth acceleration and responsive throttle inputs. Edelbrock Intake Manifolds 3701 Editorial Review

The Edelbrock 3701 Performer Intake Manifold is a beautifully designed product. However, it is important to note that this specific intake manifold is not suitable for all applications. It does not work with TBI on a 1994 C1500 or a Ford 390. On the other hand, it fits perfectly on a smallblock Chevy V8. This product does not come with a California EO number, but it is considered an aftermarket equivalent to OEM part for many SBCs that require EGR. Contact Edelbrock for any necessary documentation for state inspections.
