How crippled is this thing if you don't install the app?

Using Google Home only: on/off, very limited color profile and Routine capable. If nothing more I'd use their app to refine colors and themes. Otherwise you lose a ton of refinements. If you're paranoid about their App then use a junk email account and uninstall after setting it up. Bottom line I'd really recommend using their App for set-up.

Is the brightness adjustable?

The cloud and laser brightness are both adjustable via the BlissHome App.

Can I have have multiple sky lites in one home with separate settings? One per each child to use.

Yes, you can connect multiple and create different scenes for each one! :)

Is the light at the source distracting? In other words, you have to place it somewhere so you can't see the device?

Not really, but it’s annoying the top doesn’t sit too well on base and only way to turn it off is unplug it. The light looks super cool, but could use some tweaks.

Can you switch between custom themes using the button?

Not that I know of the custom themes have to go through the app

Is this a free bolt? What is the rated voltage of this product?

As far as free bolt I do not understand what question is. But this device comes with a regular 5v adapter which has a toggle switch to turn on & off.

Can this point at a wall instead of the ceiling?

Yes. The only limitations would be to be certain that it doesn't shine into anyone's eyes because of the laser light. However, I'll tell you that I like the other version that they make much more than this one. If you only bought one, you wouldn't see the difference. Check out BlissLights Sky Lite 2.0. I loved that one so much that I bought 2. I returned the Sky Lite Evolve. It's been a while, but as I recall the colors were not as brilliant, the coverage area was less, and I think it didn't have the movement that the Sky Lite 2.0 has (although I don't remember for certain).

Can i use it in my car?

I’m guessing you are thinking of a camper, not while driving. It would not work in a car. The ball floats freely and could move, causing a hazard for a driver. The ceiling of a vehicle would be too low for the projections to look good.

The BlissLights Sky Lite Evolve is an LED laser star projector that projects galaxy lighting and nebula clouds onto walls or ceilings. The brightness can be adjusted through the BlissHome App, and multiple devices can be paired together.
