Will this catch spiders?

It will catch anything that touches it. Bugs, flies, fruit flies, and yes the occasional spider that happens into it. The sticky side is powerfully sticky. Nothing that steps on it is going to get loose. If you have a special favorite spider, it is best to take him outside. If you place this close to his web, he will get stuck/caught on it.

Does this unit use a permanent led (light emitting diode) as its light source...or does it use a replaceable uv (tube bulb) like the dynatrap dt3009?

The UV light on these traps is not replaceable.

Does this work on large black flies?

This trap will catch large black flies.

Do they sell this just the plugins?

Yes, the plug-in units are available separately.

Will this work with fleas?

This trap is recommended for flying insects. It is not recommended for fleas.

How long does one insert last with large flies?

Probably over 5/10 large flies. If you catch more large flies than that you may have a different problem. This is best used primarily indoors.

Why do the Safer brand replacement glue cards cost SO much more than the knock-off brands (16cards $12)?

I feel your pain. The manufacture’s is stickier but we went through too many of them so the costs add up. I switched to the knock offs and they do work

Does this work for mosquitos?

I don’t know about mosquitoes as this is used inside however it has been great with fruit flies, flies and an occasional weird looking flying insect.
