What's the difference between Ban-T and regular, food-grade citric acid?

Will this take the tannins and sulfer smell out of my water softener media, and will it harm the media?

Ban-T is specifically designed to clean the resin inside the water softener. Continual use of Ban-T will help clean/eliminate the tannins that accrue inside the water softener. It will not harm the media. Sulfur, on the other hand, is a different issue. You would need to set up a injection system, to help with that issue. We suggest using Neutra Sul on sulfur.

Does this remove the other minerals from the filter bed or do you have to use a regular bed cleaner in addition to this.?

Product description states it 'maintains the ph of alkaline water.' it also states it 'lowers the ph.' these 2 statements are contradictory.

I’m not very knowledgeable about how water softeners work but will this solution make its way into my drinking water?

Since you only need to use 1/2 cup of Pro Ban T in your salt tank it won't harm you because it is actually citric acid and it clears and improves the taste of your water. I add the 1/2 cup of Ban T with every bag of non pellet salt. It's a great product.

Will ban-t still require me to use rust out or any other product? i was using kenmore cleaner but its been discontinued. im looking for replacement

Thank you for your question. If you have iron in the water, use Rust Out, if not, use the Ban-T. You cannot use both of these products together.

Will this break down the media in my filter?

No. Ban-T will simply clean the media from any organic material that may attached itself to the resin bead.

Why does this leave a white film on my stainless steel sink and other items if it is a cleaner for the water softner.. didn't have this prior

Hello, I am not sure how you use this product. I mix it with water & pour it in my water softener tank container. I would never assume that it will stain my sink because it mixes with the water way before it reaches my sink. I hope you are using it correctly.
