The problem lies in the fact that the display has its circuit board encased on the back of the device. This makes it run into the HUD which sits under the dash cover, no way around it. If you remove the HUD and the upper dash piece you could install this item. Probably have to use bimmercode to remove the HUD function so it doesn't warn you. I've asked the seller if they would make a unit with a separate control box, like the MMI for the center display, so you could tuck it away under the dash or next to the HUD. Seems like a design uh oh but what do I know right.
