  • Question : How many speeds does the fan have?
    Answer : The fan has 3 speeds.
  • Question : Does the fan have a timer?
    Answer : Yes, it has a 7.5-hour timer for easy on/off.
  • Question : What does the quiet nighttime mode do?
    Answer : The quiet nighttime mode automatically dims the LED controls and decreases speed for peaceful sleep.
  • Question : Does it cool the air when circulating?
    Answer : The fan cools only as much as a fan would cool the air. It is not an air conditioner. But this fan is taller than most, so it does a much better job of cooling a room, in my opinion. And it absolutely is not noisy, as some reviews stated; also, the blue light doesn't 'light up the whole house' as others have said. We absolutely love this fan. Hopefully you will too.
  • Question : What kind of screws does this need to properly attach the base? My unit arrived without hardware :(
    Answer : I didn't know it needed screws. The base snaps together, then I twist locked the unit onto the base. Can't imagine why screws are needed unless this question is somehow not for my particular fan, or this model has changed since 2015 (T42951)
  • Question : Does ionizer really work for smoke?
    Answer : Don't know for smoke, but it helps when the dog has gas!
  • Question : Do you have to buy filters for the air purifier?
    Answer : I can't seem to find any info on being able to replace the filter. Maybe it's permanently inside the fan? I also didn't find anything on the fan itself to see where you could replace the filter. A lot of reviews say the ionizer is worthless but I love my fan. I haven't used the ionizer too much but I don't feel I need it. My thought was, if I need it, it's there. The fan is fairly priced for what you get even if it didn't have the ionizer. For me, it was well worth the purchase. I hope this helps.
  • Question : What's the difference between the model 2551 and 2554?
    Answer : Since I have only the 2551, I'm guessing - but it appears the only difference is the color of the face (the area surrounding the vents). Mine is silver and the picture for the 2554 shows a 'gold' or 'bronze' color. Otherwise they seem to be the same fan.
  • Question : Is it noisy?
    Answer : Not at all. Of course you're going to have the normal wind sound... But it's very quiet otherwise. I definitely recommend this product. I'm totally happy with it. :0)
  • Question : Does it take cigarette smoke out of a room?
    Answer : Yes, nothing takes cigarette smoke out of the air. I am 54 and smoked since I was 14 minus pregnancy for 3 babies. I quit 3 years ago. My walls were almost black above the bed from cigarette smoke. I washed them down and the living room, kitchen and bathroom. I have new carpet in the bedroom and living room. It smells great in here even though I have a cat. I clean after him daily. God bless and praying for you John 3:16
  • Question : Does this fan get dusty, and is it easy to clean?
    Answer : Sorry, I have not had it long enough to know. My suspicion is that I will accumulate dust, and probably will be difficult to open it up to clean if a vacuum hose does not do the job. There is no filter in it that could be replaced. I think it likely that a vacuum hose used a couple of times a year would do the job. Otherwise I am very satisfied, and really like it.
  • Question : Can the ionizer be turned off?
    Answer : Yes. There's a button that says 'ION' and a bright blue LED that is lit when it's active. I turn the Ionizer off when the windows are open and on when the A/C or furnace is running with the windows closed.

The American Choice Portable Tower Fan is a great addition to any indoor space. It provides a good airflow and is quiet, making it perfect for use in the bedroom or home office.
