The BKE820xl has a LED wrapped button for each temperature selection, you just push the one you want directly. Also, the BKE820xl has a slightly larger water jug.

    Answer : Yes, there is plastic in the water window and lid of the BKE720BSS model and water and steam may come into contact with these parts. The model uses BPA Free plastics.
