Is there a trick to getting a bit out of storage?

I had a similar problem. Additionally, it was VERY difficult to pop the top up on mine to even access the bits. I corrected that problem by inserting a bit into my drill, holding the screwdriver by cap and spinning it to “break in” the plastic a bit. This made it easier to lift the end cap. Regarding the bits, themselves, I removed all of them and spritzed them and the little tabs with silicone spray. It seemed to help. Remember to wipe off the excess prior to reinstalling the bits. The specialty bits will fit inside the handle… You just have to swap out one of the standard beds to make room.

What are the product dimensions without extensions at all? (just handle)

approximately 2-3/4". The length of the insert is adjustable too.
