- Question : Can you wear this on your chest?Answer : This bag is not designed to be worn on your chest. The bag naturally goes cross body on your left shoulder and the bag is on your back. I think if you turned it the other way the straps would not lay properly. You can pull it around to the front of you to access your belongings, though.

- Question : Is this a sling bag or backpack?Answer : You are correct. It is not a backpack. I have worn it on my back with the strap across my chest though. But it is a single thick strap and is a sling bag.

- Question : Are there compartments for pencils or small items?Answer : There is an inner pocket deep enough for pencils in the center zippered section. The smallest zippered section also has a zippered inner pocket that can hold items shorter than a pencil.
