| Directions | Determine the pH of aquarium water with an API pH TEST KIT. To lower pH, add 2 drops per U.S. gallon (3.8 L) of aquarium water. Take another pH reading before adding another dose. Note that some fish may be sensitive to pH adjustments greater than .2 in a 24 hour period, so changes of this magnitude she be executed with extreme care. Use the API pH TEST KIT weekly to accurately monitor pH. Then, when necessary, use pH DOWN to reduce pH levels in your aquarium. Tip Some water is high in mineral ions, such as carbonate and bicarbonate, which strongly buffer aquarium water and can resist a pH change or cause “pH rebound.” In these situations, repeated dosing may be necessary to lower pH. |

- Question : Is this product safe for all types of fish?Answer : Yes, it is safe for all types of freshwater aquarium fish and plants.
- Question : How often should I test the water for pH?Answer : It is recommended to test the water weekly, especially if there are new additions to the aquarium or if water changes have been made.

- Question : Lowered my ph from 8 to 7.6 and now it is stuck regardless of how much I put in. I have driftwood and all levels are normal. What to do?Answer : We would recommend to continue to use API pH Down everyday until you achieve the pH you are looking for. However, if it will not lower we would recommend to have the KH tested. This could be preventing the pH from moving.
- Question : I haven’t had a fish tank in years so I am kinda new again but if my ph is 7.3 do I add ph up or ph downAnswer : Depends on what kind of fish you have and what pH is suitable for that. Having said that, 7.2-7.4 is most common so I would just leave it at 7.3 unless your fish over other requirements.
- Question : Is it safe to use on Saltwater aquarium?Answer : API pH Down is safe to use in a saltwater aquarium. Most saltwater aquariums do not have a concern with high pH so what is the root cause. Your saltwater mix should set the pH appropriately and overtime the aquarium biological conditions will drop the pH. I would certainly check your salt mix and then look at what a additives you are adding to drive the pH up.
- Question : how long till i can dose again if i have no fish in tank?Answer : I wait 2 hours. I have well water with a seriously high pH---somewhere over 8.8. Even with fish in the tank I have to bring it down fast. There's always a rebound rise of the pH, so it takes me 48 hours or more. I always do the water change on a Saturday so I can get it under control before I go to work on Monday.
- Question : can u leave your fish in the tank when u add the ph downAnswer : Yes. You will add the correct amount, wait 24 hours and test your ph. You may have to repeat several times to get the right effect but your fish will be fine if the change is gradual hence the one dose per 24 hour rule.
- Question : Do the instructions say how much to use per gallon?Answer : It's 1 tsp per 50 gallons or 5 ml per 190 L
- Question : Can I use this with betta? And can I put into water that has betta water conditioner?Answer : Yes you can. pH adjustment chemicals up or down or not fish sensitive.
