    • Question : Is the Hungry Bin eco-friendly?
Answer : Yes, it is. Made from food grade polypropylene with organic colourants and between 5 and 15% recycled content from our own rejects, it reduces food scraps waste from landfills.
    • Question : Does the Hungry Bin come with a guarantee?
Answer : Yes, it does. Hungry Bin is designed to last, and all parts are fully recyclable. The product and its parts are guaranteed for life.
    • Question : Does this hungry bin compare to the worm inn made from breathable fabric?
Answer : Both are flow through systems, well made, from great companies. The Inn is all cloth, and has more breathability than the Hungry Bin. The Hungry Bin is the size of a large garbage can and can hold a lot of trimmings.
    • Question : How does the Hungry Bin prevent everything from falling out of the bottom when the tray is removed?
Answer : The design features of the bin ensure that the contents do not all fall out when the bottom tray is removed. It is recommended to place a tray or bucket underneath to catch any small bits of compost or liquid fertiliser that may come away.
    • Question : How much compost do you get and how often?
Answer : You will receive highly concentrated worm castings every 2-4 months, along with worm liquid. This nutrient-rich castings can be sprinkled around your plants and vegetables.
    • Question : If I transfer my old compost with earthworms into this and add red Wigglers, will they coexist?
Answer : Yes, the worms in your existing compost will coexist with red wigglers or any other worms in the bin. Using existing compost as bedding to start the Hungry Bin is recommended for faster establishment of a working population of worms.
    • Question : What type of bedding should I use for the Hungry Bin?
Answer : It is suggested to use a dark, rich compost soil that is free-draining and free of clay. Avoid using potting soils as they contain vermiculite and granular fertilizers. A mix of coconut fiber and sand can also be used.
    • Question : Can I feed this waste soil from weekly indoor microgreen production?
Answer : Yes, indoor microgreens waste should work in the bin. However, be cautious of adding too much vegetable waste, as it can generate heat and cause the worms to flee or die. Ideally, the bin should be kept in temperatures between 40 to 80˚F.
    • Question : What is included in the box when purchasing the Hungry Bin?
Answer : The box includes the Hungry Bin and instructions. You will need to separately obtain bedding material (compost, free-draining soil, etc.) and compost worms.
    • Question : Is the ventilation issue related to worms escaping the bin or killing the worms?
Answer : The ventilation issue reported by some users is not related to worms escaping or being killed. It is likely caused by overfeeding or insufficient cooling of the bin during warmer months. Follow the instructions and manage the ambient temperature to avoid ventilation issues.
    • Question : Can an empty gallon of milk be used to collect compost tea instead of the green tray under the spigot?
Answer : Yes, as long as the milk jug is thoroughly washed and the worm leachate is used soon after. It is recommended not to store drinking water in milk jugs due to potential milk residue.
    • Question : What are the dimensions of the box that the Hungry Bin comes in?
      Answer : The box dimensions are 24" x 26" x 17" (High) and weighs 29 lbs.

Worm Farm Compost Bin - Continuous Flow Through Vermi Composter for Worm Castings, Worm Tea Maker, Indoor/Outdoor, 20 gallons

The Worm Farm Compost Bin is a continuous flow through vermi composter that can be used both indoors and outdoors. Customers recommend using dark, rich compost soil from a garden centre instead of potting soil as it can become more expensive. Adding new compost worms to existing compost or a worm farm is encouraged as it establishes a working population much faster, and the different species of worm seem to align fine to coexist. The Hungry Bin can process up to 4.5lbs of kitchen scraps a day. Worm castings are available every 2-4 months, and it so nutrient-rich that only a small amount is needed for plants and vegetables. The design of the bin ensures that when you remove the bottom tray, the contents of the bin do not all fall out. There are no ventilation issues with the Hungry Bin, it's a red herring for overfeeding or not keeping the bin cool enough during the warmer months. Thanks to its patented taper design, the Hungry Bin doesn't require stirring or mixing and instead relies on compaction. Customers recommend a better screen for the bin as gnats will overrun it in a short amount of time, especially when it's next to the kitchen counter.
