THE SHIZUOKA'S TRADITIONAL TEA-GRASS INTEGRATED SYSTEM: This is a farming method that began about 150 years ago. Grasses such as Miscanthus and Sasa around the tea plantations are cut, dried, stored, then cut into small pieces and placed under the tea trees during the cold season. This prevents the temperature of the soil from dropping and allows the bacteria in the soil to be more active, which held the tea tree absorb more nutrients resulting in richly aromatic tea.
