The Kimono has some little ties to hold it closed. Depending on the size of the 10 year old, it might fit perfectly. If by chance they are a little on the short side, you might have to hem it up.

The ties don’t seem to be on the same level.Answer : On the robe I purchased the right side front flap had a tie that matched up to a second tie at waist level on the left side (inside the robe). The left side front flap had a tie that matched up to a tie on the right side waist level (on the outside of the robe).
