Okay, so no timer, yet it runs, stops, starts, etc., all on its own. Wired as/instructions. Electrician doesn't know why. Return unit?

It is wired incorrectly. When it is switched off there should not be any power going to it. I suggest you get a new electrician. This is a simple connection. I wired mine with a timer works great. Only other suggestion is if wired correctly, is you have a bad switch.

Can i leave the humidity sensor unconnected? I only have one switch to control the light and fan.

If leaving the humidity sensor wire (brown wire) unconnected, the fan won't be turning on when humidity level reaches the preset level.

If I turn the wall switch on and the humdity is already below the set value will the fan still turn on?

can this fan be installed on a sloped ceiling?

Yes, at most 45 degree and duct pointing upward
