Question : What is the length of the coiled cord?
Answer : Line length is 1.9M.
Question : What is the clip type?
Answer : Stainless Steel Alligator Clip.
Question : In which environments is it suitable?
Answer : Factory environment, electronic maintenance, dust-free workshop, and other static environments.
Question : Has anyone actually tested this for continuity with a meter to ensure it is completing a circuit to ground?
Answer : Most wrist straps have a current limiting resistor molded into the ground cord head on the end that connects to the cuff. This resistor is most commonly one megohm, it is designed to limit the amount of current. Attempting to measure continuity with a meter will show there is no continuity as most meters look for resistance less than 50 ohms to confirm continuity. The 1 Megaohm resistance is designed to "drain" the static charge from your body, while at the same time protecting you from killer current should you happen to touch 240 VAC.
Question : How long is the cable?
Answer : The cable is around 20 inches without any tension and can easily stretch to about 4 feet.
Question : How long is the wrist strap? I have a large wrist, is it expandable?
Answer : The wrist strap is designed to accommodate larger wrists and has been successfully used by individuals with large wrists.
Question : I get shocks from my treadmill. Where to put the clip?
Answer : If you are experiencing shocks from your treadmill, it is a sign of a potentially dangerous issue with the treadmill. It is recommended to either get a new treadmill or have the wiring fixed on your current one.
Question : How do you use this?
Answer : To properly ground your PC case with the wrist strap, the PSU must be in the case and connected to an outlet. The PSU should remain OFF during this process to ensure the case is grounded via the PSU and the PSU is grounded via the outlet.
Question : Can you clip this to an anti-stat mat? Does that work?
Answer : The wrist strap should be connected to a grounding source, such as a pipe leading to earth, to effectively drain any static acquired. While an anti-static mat is designed to reduce or prevent static forming, connecting the wrist strap to it may not serve its intended purpose.
Question : Is this used for personal grounding or earthing?
Answer : This anti-static wrist device is used for personal grounding to prevent the buildup of static electricity on the body when working on sensitive electronic equipment, to avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD).
Question : Should I wear one when using a 1 by 30 inch belt sander? People say the sander produces a lot of static electricity.
Answer : The wrist strap is primarily designed for working on sensitive electronic equipment to prevent static discharge. While it may offer some protection, it is not specifically intended for use with power tools such as belt sanders.
Question : Does this work on a body with a lot of static & transfers it to animate and inanimate things? The shocks are loud & painful.
Answer : Based on the feedback received, the product did not effectively address the issue of static buildup and transfer.
