On my Cuisinart (4-quart), it takes about 10 minutes to heat up to saute/brown. A beep will go off when it reaches the temperature.

How does the slow cooker behave in the event of a power failure? Does it resume automatically when the power is back on?

In case of a power failure, the slow cooker may not automatically resume when the power is back on. If it displays an ERR message after a power failure, it is recommended to return it for assistance.

No, there is no delay timer feature. However, you can select high, low or simmer slow cook and set the number of hours. At the end of that time, it will automatically switch to warm to keep the food at a safe temperature.

Does it cook rice in small amount?

No, it is a 6-quart cooker and the manual recommends it be at least one third full for cooking anything. For cooking small quantities of rice, it is recommended to use a separate rice cooker or steamer.
