Answer : Yes, it can cut copper sheet up to 28 mil (0.7 mm) thickness easily. Most copper flat washers should be around 0.7 mm, so it should work.

Answer : Yes, for sheet metal like aluminum and tin, it is recommended to put a drop of oil on the sheet where you are punching to make a cleaner hole. Any oil up to 30wt motor oil will work, but avoid penetrating oils as they are too thin and become gummy. Additionally, occasionally put a drop of oil on the pins and screws of the tool to keep it working smoothly.
Question : Will this punch a 18 gauge blue steel sheet?
Answer : The Neiko punch has served well and can punch through almost all sheet metal, including 18 gauge blue steel. However, it depends on the size of the hole as a 1/8" hole is easier than a 3/8" one.
Question : Will this punch through "vintage", rusted tin pieces found on farms and ranches?
Answer : This tool can cut through 16 gauge mild steel but not sure about rusted tin pieces. Generally, the harder the metal you attempt to cut through, the more risk of dulling the cutters. Cheater handles can be made using short lengths of pipe like black pipe, though it may be harder to control the tool with these extended handles.
Question : Will this tool make literally stand up to the use of a thousand holes on leather, and if so, will the hole be smooth?
Answer : Yes, if the tool is kept greased up and maintained, it should be able to punch at least a thousand holes in leather with great precision and smoothness due to its multiple interchangeable heads and heavy build.
Question : Is this a tool that can produce a clean 1/4" dia circle in thin >.01" steel?
Answer : The circle will be dimpled because the tool employs a center punch nib. However, the sharp punch tip can be ground off with a bench grinder if only a tool for producing circular steel cutouts is desired.
Question : Can it punch through a metal washer you get at a hardware store?
Answer : It depends on several factors such as the material, hardness, and thickness of the washer. In general, the softer and thinner the washer, the better. If enlarging an existing punch diameter, a very small enlargement may also be an issue depending on the above factors.
